Welcome to Night Vale the Novel || Joseph Fink and Jeffery Cranor

Summary: From the creators of the wildly popular Welcome to Night Valepodcast comes an imaginative mystery of appearances and disappearances that is also a poignant look at the ways in which we all struggle to find ourselves…no matter where we live.

Located in a nameless desert somewhere in the great American Southwest, Night Vale is a small town where ghosts, angels, aliens, and government conspiracies are all commonplace parts of everyday life. It is here that the lives of two women, with two mysteries, will converge.

Rating: 4.5/5

Thoughts: I was so excited to get this book in July because the podcast was on hiatus and I was seriously missing it. Audible had updated and given me a credit, so I went for this, deciding it needed to be listened to rather than read. This was the right decision. Cecil Baldwin has a brilliant voice.

The novel follows a Night Vale Mom and a girl who has been aged 19 for decades. It takes us out of Night Vale – with great difficulty – and shows us the weirdest of Night Vale compared to other towns.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Diane, Jackie, Josh and Lucinda were all wonderful characters that  I wanted to keep coming back to. It was amazing to finally get an explanation to the Man in the Tan Jacket holding a Deerskin Suitcase and I love how it was done.

I will never have had enough of the weirdness of Night Vale, it is inspiring and interesting and I completely love it. I look forward to the return of twice-monthly episodes and for the release of the scripts. If you’re a WTNV fan you should definitely read the book.
